Driver Assistance features help give you more confidence on your drive. Passat includes five Driver Assistance features, including Rear Traffic Alert. Rear Traffic Alert alerts you to vehicles crossing your path when backing up and will even help brake the vehicle if needed. The Forward Collision Warning system (included in Front Assist) has a radar sensor in the front to help monitor traffic and alerts you to a potential front-end collision. If a collision is imminent, Autonomous Emergency Braking (included in Front Assist) can support the driver with increased brake pressure or apply the brakes automatically.
When driving, Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist) will sense if you start to move into another lane when you don’t use the turn signal. Lane Assist will steer to help keep you in the current lane. The Blind Spot Monitor helps alert you to cars that may be in your blind spot. The Active Blind Spot Monitor (available with Lane Assist) on select models can also counter-steer within the limits of Lane Assist to help keep you in your lane if you attempt to change lanes with a vehicle in your blind spot. And Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps the vehicle maintain a preset speed and distance from the car in front of you. When activated, if the car in front of you speeds up or slows down, the sensors can detect the change and your car follows suit.
And even more safety features are built into the Passat. With seven stability-enhancing features, a rigid safety cage and active safety features, it’s easy to see what matters. From Electronic Brake-Pressure Distribution (EBD), which helps maintain appropriate stopping power during a hard-braking situation, to Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which can adjust engine throttle and apply corrective forces to the wheels that need them most, your vehicle is equipped with a total of seven stability-enhancing systems.
