If you purchase your current leased Volkswagen, you don’t have to worry about paying for excess mileage or wear-and-tear on your vehicle. Just like the purchase of any vehicle, you would be responsible for taxes and other fees. Contact Neil Huffman Volkswagen for payoff information and instructions about how to apply for financing and other purchasing options.

Turn In Your Volkswagen

If you don’t want to purchase your leased Volkswagen, you can turn it in. The following steps will help you finalize your current lease.

First, make sure that all the original equipment is present in the vehicle when you turn it in -- including the owner’s manual, all remotes, keys, airbags, stereo equipment, factory information, data CDs and the convertible top cover (if applicable.)

Next, you want to review your vehicle’s condition. While some normal wear and use is expected, the Volkswagen Wear & Use Guide  helps make conducting your own self-inspection easier. This guide will help you evaluate the vehicle’s "normal" wear versus "excessive" wear, so you’ll know what to expect on turn-in day.

You’ll want to inspect the vehicle’s interior, exterior, wheels, tires and mechanical functions. Under normal use, some wear and tear is expected, like small door dings, minor stains or carpet wear, but you may be charged for excessive damage or for mechanical systems that don’t work.

Before you turn in the car, the interior should be clean and free of all rips or tears. The exterior should be free of all dents, scrapes or major body damage. Tires and wheels should be in good condition with no damage, and everything on the vehicle should work properly.

Upholstery holes, tears, burns or singes, excessive stains on the upholstery, carpet or interior panels, damage to the convertible top (like cuts, burns, singes, tears, or stains) are considered excessive wear. Tires that have wear strips showing or wheels with major scuffs, “curb rash” or missing hubcaps are considered excess wear. Missing or dented body panels or large scrapes in the paint are considered excess damage, so are any malfunctioning or non-functioning mechanical systems. No service or warning lights on the dash should show.

If you believe you have excess wear or use, you may want to have the repairs done by your local mechanic or you can choose to pay charges for the repairs at your lease turn in.

After you have inspected the vehicle and cleaned it up, it’s time to schedule a vehicle inspection by going online or calling Alliance Inspection Management (AiM) at (844) 264-9704. At your appointment your AiM agent will evaluate the vehicle for any excess wear and use.

Once the inspection is completed, you will receive an inspection condition report itemizing any excess wear issues.

Excess wear will be billed on your Turn-In Settlement Invoice (unless you choose to repair the issues prior to turn-in.) If you decide to have the repairs completed before you turn the vehicle in, email the repair receipts (along with proof of payment) to RepairReceipt@vwcredit.com or fax to (800) 824-8284 before returning the vehicle. This will help ensure the charges are adjusted before you receive your Turn-In Settlement Invoice.

Next, it’s time to turn in your leased VW. Call Neil Huffman Volkswagen at 502-434-5270 and schedule a time to return your Volkswagen. At the appointment we’ll review your inspection report and the condition of the vehicle to ensure nothing has changed.

When you’re here we’ll also talk about your lease-end options. If you decide to lease or buy a new VW, we can talk with you about options and help you select a new Volkswagen and take you out for a test drive. As a returning customer, if you purchase your next vehicle through Volkswagen Credit, your disposition fee will be waived. Or if you decide to lease another Volkswagen, Volkswagen will waive your disposition fee and your security deposit.

As always, we at Neil Huffman Volkswagen are here to make the buying and leasing process easy. Feel free to call us at 502-434-5270 or stop in with any questions about your lease turn-in process and to test drive a new Volkswagen.
